That is a wonderful story. I remember playing ball at that baseball diamond. I played short stop one afternoon, but I wasn't as good as you. LOL, I didn't want to get hit in the head by the baseball.
We had so many good times. You made my time in Holly Hill so wonderful. You were such a fantastic friend. I remember when we take directional signs onto the trees in the lot behind our house -- and picking raspberries and blueberries and getting scratched up from head to toe. My mom made us a pie. ... It's amazing how we managed so many good times but never knew the secrets of the violence in both our families. This town was so good at lying by omission. It was practically a sport. Love you so much, dear one.
We share history. That is so, so important to me. I'm kinda hunting for words, but it's a kind of validation, that we were part of similar experiences. As long as we live we affirm each other. Yes, I remember you and love you.
Here's the rub. Many men really do behave badly, and they don't realize it. They have to be awakened out of it, and that's happening more and more--hence the huge backlash against feminism and the rise of a Manosphere that means to effect the re-enslavement of women -- and I mean no vote, no work, no education, no birth control, no nothing -- by force if necessary and, frankly, for many that permission to beat the crap out of us would be a preference! ... The problem here is that, like racism, this doesn't go down from the culture to the brain rationally. It goes in before the kid has the thinking capacity to analyze it. IT GOES IN AS INSTINCT, EMOTION, AND KNEE-JERK RESPONSE. See Anderson Cooper's brilliant "Doll Game" and you'll see children declare goodness purely on the basis of color at ages so young it makes you very, very afraid we can never these problems. The same is true of sexism. Men aren't scum, they're asleep. And one problem with privilege is that, because it's gone down as emotion, IF FEELS NORMAL. BEING ENTITLED FEELS SO NORMAL THAT WHEN ENTITLEMENT IS CHALLENGED, WHAT RESULTS IS A FANTASTICAL RAGE IN WHICH A MAN FEELS SOMETHING'S BEING TAKEN FROM HIM THAT IS HIS RIGHT. Now, he's the abused one, right???? That's what the whole Manosphere is saying, 'You're abusing us!" No, we're not.

Children are not born eith notions of patriarchy, sexism, shame and racism. They are taught.
My present wife born in 1945 was also athletic as a child. Both previously divorced, we married in 1987 whereupon she schooled me in
the effects of patriarchy.
She became a legal secretary in 1964 and learned early "how things work."
Thses two songs I have posted on Substack are a result of hearing her remarks over the years:
Men are Scum 1/15/25
I Am a Woman 10/14/24.
Be well. Be safe.
